Job Description

We are looking for a responsible professional Receiving Clerk to receive, inspect and record deliveries of parts, raw material and products received from external suppliers and internal teams. The role will be responsible for unloading packages, checking their contents to ensure they match the orders and ensure that modern store and stock management principles are applied. Ensure that our internal stock movement principles are sound and applied.
Responsibilities
- To ensure all goods received are correct and match stock movements as per ERP system.
- Items and parts are dispatched in accordance with approved and documented requirements (stock movements, delivery notes, invoices, and assistance thereof), and transacted appropriately on the ERP system. This includes but is not limited to scanning procedures on deliveries.
- Ensure items and parts are received, identified, and moved into storage in accordance with location system. Thus, ensuring efficient sales operations and minimizing the risk of damage to the items.
- Monitoring and maintaining of all company policies and procedures.
- Counting and maintaining stock on daily/weekly/monthly intervals.
- Ensure stock in the stores are monitored and controlled.
- Responsible for the receiving of all parts and stock items delivered.
- Responsible for interring company stock movements and dispatch.
- Follow SOP (standard operating procedures) when the stock levels/parts reach the minimum levels.
- Stock levels are assessed, maintained, and adjusted regularly and are in line with the company’s operational requirements.
- Responsible for testing of stock as per company requirements.
- Although the working week for the role is from Monday to Friday, the successful candidate needs to be available 7 days a week and be able to work overtime when requested and required to do so.
- Collaborate with procurement staff to list expected deliveries.
- Receive shipments and sign paperwork upon receipt.
- Unload packages from incoming trucks and internal movement of stock
- Inspect contents to ensure they are undamaged.
- Verify packages according to order and invoices (quantity, quality, price etc.)
- Contact supplier or shipper if a mistake is identified.
- Assume responsibility for returning unsatisfactory shipments or receiving replacements.
- Label deliveries and allocate them to their designated place.
- Ensure invoices are signed and paid for satisfactory deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records and assist in inventory control.
Requirements and skills
- Proven experience as receiving clerk or similar position.
- Experience in operating forklifts.
- A technical background is a requirement.
- Working knowledge of computer programs for entering data.
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Keen eye for detail.
- Good physical condition.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in stock management in the manufacturing industry is essential. Battery sales experience will be an advantage (but not critical).
- Minimum of a Matric Certificate or equivalent academic qualification or proven applicable stock control experience (recognition of prior learning).
- Attention to detail, reliable and punctual.
- Must be organized and able to perform administrative functions and a team player.
- Must be computer literate in Excel, Word and experienced in various ERP systems.
- Have initiative to improve the company in the position employed.
- Leadership qualities.
- Valid Code 08 driver’s license is a preference.
