Brief description
The Organization has bold and ambitious goals around the development and dissemination of low-cost, accessible tools, technology and training for safer surgery and anaesthesia. These include the development of new innovations and devices and work around access to medical devices and technology transfer. The MedTech Programme Manager will provide operational support to achieve these goals.
Detailed description
- The MedTech Programme Manager will oversee the design and delivery of programme and strategic plans within their areas of responsibility, and develop and manage key relationships with partners. They will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the organisation’s programmes are managed on-budget, on time and with optimal impact. This position will require regular travel overseas.
Strategy development and implementation
- Support the delivery of a strategy for the ideation, testing and dissemination of context-appropriate, climate-smart technology, training and innovation for safer surgery and anaesthesia.
- Support the organization’s thinking and planning around technology transfer to LMICs – this may involve research, advocacy, project implementation and partnerships.
- Work closely with the clinical team, including Fellows, to ensure that specific projects are delivered to a high standard and are clinically relevant to the organisation’s partners and objectives.
Innovations and partnerships
- Engage and network with key external stakeholders in the technology, training and innovation sectors – including NGOs, academic and commercial partners.
- Work in close collaboration with the clinical team to create opportunities for innovation (both technical and non-technical) within LMIC settings, and to identify and facilitate the development and testing of potential new innovations which contribute to the organisation’s aims.
- Ensure that new tools and innovations are context-appropriate, follow human-cantered design principles, and meet a critical need or gap for end-users.
Medical device supply chain oversight
- Ensure that the organization ’s contracts with medical device suppliers are fit for purpose, with appropriate and cost-effective structures for shipping, distribution, and other supply chain aspects in place.
- Understand countries import processes, product registration and establish local distribution channels where needed.
- Manage medical device distribution and logistics.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
- Experience in the design and development of medical devices and/or other aspects of medical device projects (procurement, distribution and/or marketing) in resource-limited settings.
- Proven ability to think creatively, develop new solutions, and challenge assumptions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, partners, and contractors from different professional backgrounds, across disparate geographical settings.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Good communication skills, both written and oral; able to communicate clearly and persuasively with different audiences at a senior level.
- Excellent IT skills across all Microsoft packages and/or the Google suite equivalents.
- Strong commitment to the organization’s mission and vision.
