Job Description

To provide team management and oversight within the data management and governance function of the Financial Surveillance Department (FinSurv) to ensure good data standards practice and quality.

Detailed description

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

Fulfil the line management function pertaining to the performance and development of the data management teams as well as the optimisation and management of resources.

Plan work for self and others in the team, supervise quality of work and facilitate delivery of the output in line with relevant policies.

Manage the delivery of data steward, data modelling, data quality, data analysis and master data management (MDM) services to FinSurv to ensure data quality.

Identify data quality gaps using data management standards, governance policies, procedures, and processes. Support divisional head in accounting to the Data Governance Board by compiling, analysing and providing reports with recommendations on FinSurv data governance function and processes.

Manage the implementation and monitoring of remedial outcomes related to data governance policies procedures and processes for FinSurv.

Co-ordinate and facilitate the activities of the cross functional data governance working group in FinSurv.

Participate in FinSurv ICT projects and systems enhancement initiatives by providing data management governance guidance in the planning phase of such projects.

Effectively manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.

Stay current with developments in own functional area and ensure application thereof where relevant.

Job requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:

A minimum of a relevant Honours degree in Data Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics or Statistics.

A minimum of 8 to 10 years of job-related experience, with at least 3 years management/supervisory experience.
