Job Description
Do you have experience in investigating legal conflicts of interest and firm business issues?
You will be working closely with the New Business Conflicts Supervisor, firm’s Ethics Committee, firm attorneys, and other levels of firm administration as well as other members of the New Business Conflicts Department in connection with the review of new business to identify and facilitate resolution of conflicts of interest.
Duties include but not limited to:
Primarily responsible for the review of new business intake requests and collating the results of preliminary conflicts checks, including resolution and clearance of conflict of interest, and other business issues
Assist with the research of new client matters, including the resolution and clearance of conflict of interest of such matters.
Assist in coding of engagement letters pursuant to established guidelines and documenting of such actions in the conflicts database
Assist Attorneys in the identification and resolution of conflicts of interest, which, includes coordinating receipt and documentation of and preparation of engagement letters and client waivers and/or consents
Prepare and implement screens/firewalls when required in new firm matters
Assist in securing the approvals of new matters from the Ethics Committee/ General Counsel
Assist with training wherever required
Exercise proficiency in understanding and utilising the Conflicts Database
Minimum Requirements:
BCom, BA Law, Economics or Risk Management equivalent degree
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Minimum of 2 years’ experience.
