Job Description

Our organisation is a leading global water technology company, with operations in more than 150 countries, dedicated to solving the world’s most challenging water issues, is the leading global provider of efficient, innovative, and sustainable water technologies improving the way water is used, managed, conserved, and re-used. The company’s Transport Product Portfolio consist of Custom Split case and Axial flow pumps, Submersible and Immersible wastewater pumps and accessories, pump controllers and monitoring devices, flow and level sensors and monitoring platforms. The Transport portfolio service a wide range of industries to include Public Utilities, Mining, Marine, Agricultural and Energy sectors. We seek to appoint an Applications Engineer – Transport, to reside in either South Africa, Kenya, Egypt, Morocco, or Ivory Coast. The purpose of this position is to provide application support, system and system design support as well as in-depth technical product support to our team and their partners throughout the African continent.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS

The successful candidate will be responsible, but not limited to the following key responsibilities:

  • Customer and Partner support:  Conduct site surveys, problem solving , commissioning etc.
  • Effective communication and reporting.
  • Preparation and Management of projects and tenders.
  • Provide startegic product and application support to all our Africa employees as well as our Partners and Key accounts accross all the targeted Vertical Markets, Public Utilities, Mining & Industry, Commercial Building Services as well as Agriculture.
  • Assisting Engineering Consultants and EPC’s in the design of pumping systems, pump stations  and other water handling scenarios specific to Water and Wastewater applications.
  • Facilitate product, application and system training to clients, consultants and internal staff.
  • Assist the commercial teams in the exicution of various growth plans and strategic programs and initiatives.
  • Foster client relationships.
  • Promotion of our organisation’s products.
  • Identify project oppertunities and assist in the exicuttion, both locally and with ITC.
  • Communicate market and product requirements with the Product Managers to enable profitable growth throughout Africa.
  • Form part of the daily Sales Support structure.
  • Manage opertunities and support through the CRM system, Salesforce.
  • Work closely with other Application Engineers and departments, both local and international, to ensure a ”solutions selling” approach.
  • Ability to work under pressure, and continue to support team members and maintain a good relationship with all stakeholders.
  • Show a passion towards our organisation’s brand.
  • Support the organisation’s Watermark activities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical qualification i.e. B Sc, B Eng, B tech, Tech Diploma or other related tertiary qualification.
  • Minimum 5-7 Years relevant experience in the water/ wastewater industry with prefference to the Public Utility sector.
  • Sound knowledge of fluid based technologies.
  • Sound knowledge of pump systems.
  • Previous pump industry experience is essential.
  • Driver’s license, own car and Passport.
  • Ability to travel, local, national and international on short notice.
  • Ability to function in Underground Mines, Contruction sites, Water & Waste Water Plants  and Sewage pumping stations.
  • Previous OEM experiance will be advantageous.
  • Be able to navigate pump selection and other engineering software, tools and programs.
  • Dissiplined to work autonomous.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Experience into Africa (Advantageous)
  • Applications and working of various pumps technologies
  • Resolving complex pump related technical and application problems
  • Pumps system troubleshooting experience
  • Technical pump selections, pipe & pressure systems and pump station designs
  • Bilingual in English and French will be very advantageous but French is not essential.
