Purpose 

The Organisation is offering a position for a Senior Pipe Stress Engineer in the Secunda office.

Qualifications/Experience:

Applicant must be able to perform this position successfully and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

• BEng or BTech in Mechanical Engineering
• Knowledge of and experience in performing piping stress analysis
• More than 5 years’ experience in the Petrochemical industry
• Proficient in the analysis of piping systems – CAESER II Analysis
• Driver’s License and own transport.
• CVs must include copies of relevant Qualifications
• Collaborator

Experience in one or more of the following fields will be advantageous

• Metallic and Non-metallic detail pressure part / piping system experience will be advantageous.

Required Outputs and Responsibilities:

• Assist Project Track with proposals – required design hours and project scheduling estimates.
• Attend project Kick-off meetings and project progress sessions
• Performing and approving Piping Design Verification of Pressure Piping using Caesar II and developing alternative code required calculations using Excel or other tools – efficiently within engineering budget, on time and to sufficient quality.
• Review and Approve piping isometrics of pressure piping with regards to specific Line Classes Vacant
• Collaborate with the piping or mechanical design team to ensure all drawings and designs are compliant with project specifications – interface management
• Preparation of hydro & pneumatic testing calculations
• Prepare and approve Certificate of Design for systems when required
• Review and approve Valve Datasheets, Special Piping Item Datasheets and Specifications
• Review and Approve the Piping Bill of Material documents for procurement purposes
• Perform, Review and Approve technical bid evaluations to select appropriate vendors
• Conduct Site visitations to inspect work conducted – including pre & post hydro punch
